Youth Voice Helps Us Get it Right
Our Youth Housing Staff convenes a Youth Advisory Board each month to listen and learn about how we can better serve young people experiencing housing instability and other issues in our community. Their feedback is instrumental to shaping our programs. At a recent meeting, the group worked on a new name for the program. We recognized that seeing a flyer about "youth homelessness" or "homeless youth" wasn't going to speak to a young person. When they are couch surfing, tripled up, or settled into an uninsulated camper, these youth do not identify as "homeless". The group voted for our new program name: Youth Housing Support Program. We love it. The program reaches young people ages 12-24 with a wide range of services as they navigate their own unique journeys to safe and stable housing.
