Some tips for staying as warm and dry (and safe!) as possible:
-When shoveling snow, scoop small amounts at a time. Push snow instead of lifting it where possible and follow safe lifting procedures. Ask for help if you need to!
-If you find yourself walking outside, wear shoes that have tread, walk at a slower pace and take smaller steps than you normally do.
-Dress for the cold. Wear layers of loose-fitting clothing, insulated and water-resistant gloves & footwear, and a hat that covers your ears.
-Get warm! NCW Libraries are always open during business hours to people needing to shelter. The Methow Valley Senior Center is open M-W from 11-3.
The CDC has created a downloadable Extreme Cold Guide with more tips and precautions.
