This is the Methow Valley!

There is something truly beautiful about a community that shows up again and again to ensure that everyone is taken care of and that those living here have what they need. This is the Methow Valley!

We see and hear examples every single day of a community working creatively to make this place one where all belong and all can thrive. If you've ever attended a town council meeting, written a letter to the editor, offered help to a neighbor, or shown up for one of the dozens of town/neighborhood events that take place here each year, you too are part of this important community building work. The reality is, though, that our work is not done.

We are still far from our collective goal of being a valley where everyone living here feels like they can call this place home. We also see this every day. There are still people living in our valley who do not have access to things that many of us consider to be basic human rights: shelter, safety, a place of refuge.

Room One is joining with others in a few areas to create real and lasting change for our neighbors. For example, over the past few months, the Okanogan Housing Coalition has been working to share stories and data with Okanogan County Commissioners to better understand who is unhoused in our community and how much the need for achievable housing exceeds availability. The work to create and sustain safe and stable housing takes time, creativity, and collaboration. We are in it for the long haul and are so fortunate to have so many with us in this work.
