Peer Support Launches
We spent the six weeks during our pilot Substance Use Support Group mostly working on building connections to end the feeling of isolation, which is one of the biggest factors in harmful substance use/drinking.
We spent the six weeks during our pilot Substance Use Support Group mostly working on building connections to end the feeling of isolation, which is one of the biggest factors in harmful substance use/drinking. Our goal was not to get people sober but to create a space of support and build connections where people would otherwise make harmful choices in regard to their use. We talked about what our daily lives looked like, the struggles we faced, and how our family dynamics affected our use and choices when not wanting to use. We offered support for those still using but looking to build healthy connections. We bonded over good food and supportive conversations and shared referrals to other services and support groups when needed.
The next group starts up September 18, Monday evenings 5:30-7pm. Call or text Ronda if you are interested or want more information: 509-978-9337.
