Our Block Party Was a Joy!
The turnout for our 25th anniversary Block Party was amazing! We're still hearing all sorts of fun stories from community members who were able to be there and we have so much gratitude for everyone involved.
The turnout for our 25th anniversary Block Party was amazing! We're still hearing all sorts of fun stories from community members who were able to be there and we have so much gratitude for everyone involved.
We had three goals for the block party:
CONNECT: One of the most beautiful things about this event is that people from all walks of life and backgrounds gathered for a shared purpose. We are so grateful for those of our neighboring organizations (Little Star, Twisp Library, Methow Pride, Blue Sky Minds, TwispWorks, The Cove, Methow Natives, and Methow Valley Interpretive Center) who joined us for the event and helped facilitate connection through face painting, activities for kids, and more. Community members had a chance to spend time with their neighbors and friends, as well as make connections with people they hadn't yet had a chance to meet in person.
CELEBRATE: What better way to celebrate than with food? We are also so grateful to Blue Star Coffee Roasters, Orchard House Donuts, Lal's Fork & Lonchera Yucatan for the ways they showed up and fed our community! We had the chance to celebrate our new building (more about that below) and it was so much fun to see families playing games with each other and dancing to local bands.
BUILD HOPE FOR THE FUTURE: From face painting and food trucks to reflections on where we came from and a reminder about where we're still headed, the block party was the perfect way to celebrate our ongoing story. While it's true that Room One just celebrated 25 years of serving the Methow Valley, that in no way means we're slowing down! Like Therese wrote in her opening message, we continue to be committed to building community capacity and responsive systems of support. We are more hopeful than ever before about the thriving valley we are working towards together.
