Vaccines are here!
The Methow Valley is incredibly fortunate to have so many trained and skilled volunteers and advocates. Our COVID Emergency Response group meets bi-weekly to keep current on the vaccine distribution plans and protocols. Room One was asked to support elders and others who are eligible for the vaccine but who did not have access to computers or have difficulty navigating the online registration systems. Word got out through our partner and client networks and our whole staff supported many elders in registering, and also understanding the distribution system - where to register, when to expect a call back, and why it is so confusing! Essentially, clinic sites only know week to week what their vaccine supply will look like, so it is difficult to schedule vaccine clinics well in advance. Thanks to Aero Methow Rescue Service, Methow Valley Schools, and an army of volunteers here in the valley, Three Rivers Hospital and Family Health Centers are working hard to set up mass vaccination clinics at the school. Thankfully, there is now a central call line supported by Mid-Valley Hospital that is bilingual so our staff can spend less time on the actual registrations. Our primary concern now are the disparities that exist between who is able to navigate access quickly and who cannot. If you have questions, check the Okanogan County Public Health site or give us a call and we will do our best to share the most current information since it changes often!
