Youth Leadership Council (YLC)
Working together to address the barriers teens face in our rural area.
Okanogan County's youth and young adults deserve medically accurate, non-judgmental education that will allow them to make informed decisions about their health, as well as youth-friendly resources & services.
The YLC reduces unintended teen pregnancy by educating its members and its community about positive youth development, reproductive healthcare, and healthy relationships. The YLC also works to create a safer community for everyone by bringing awareness and understanding to social, gender, LGBTQ, racial and socioeconomic inequalities.
In 2020, Room One partnered with FYRE as co-leads of this incredible program.
If you are a young person in 8th grade to 12th grade, interested in joining the YLC, and able to meet once a month in Omak from 6pm-8pm please get in touch! For more information contact Shannon Russell at shannon@roomone.org or 509-997-2050. You can also connect with the YLC's other co-lead Mady Sandoval, FYRE's Co-Executive, at mady@okfyre.org.
