Room One’s Community Needs Assessment is finished. The report below outlines the top five needs highlighted in focus groups, as well as the results from the surveys addressing those five needs. Although this only represents a small portion of the Methow Valley community, it is the beginning of a community effort in reaching out to community members and understanding the nature of living in this valley. We hope this report is useful to the entire Methow Valley Community, whether to support new projects or to provide an interesting read. This was and still is a community effort. From this entire project, the community shines as a true advocate for its residents. Thank you to everyone involved in making this project happen!

Excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team at a rapidly expanding rural service agency, meeting the social, health and wellness needs of the Methow Valley through innovative programming and collaborative partnerships. ED will oversee all programs and operations and report to the board. Ideal candidate has experience in non-profit management, fundraising, budgeting, strong written and verbal communication, and positive character. History working in social services a plus. Methow Herbal Health Center hosting local plant walks!

International Women’s Day comes to the Methow

Room One is very excited to be part of creating an International Women’s Day in the Methow Valley.

Brought to you by the Confluence Gallery and Room One this day long event will include breakfast and workshops by local women who know their stuff. Here’s what they have to say about what’s going on, or follow this link for more information:

International Women’s Day

Saturday, March 10

9:30am-1:30pm

Four locations. Four themes. Twelve workshops.

Come join Confluence and Room One for a celebration of women in the Methow Valley. On International Women’s Day women connect worldwide to celebrate and honor women past, present, and future. Amazing women celebrities, athletes, political leaders, and experts speak about women’s issues today.

Although the festive day is on March 8th, our celebration will take place on March 10th, a Saturday. The morning will begin with breakfast treats at Confluence. We will then break into groups to partake in a walking journey between the following locations:

Confluence will offer 3 hours of arts and crafts workshops. The Methow Valley Inn will dedicate 3 hours to health and nutrition. The Studio will host 3 hours of creative movement and dance. Basic Mechanics workshops will be offered at TwispWorks.

Donations of $10 are encouraged. All donations will benefit Room One‘s emergency fund for women.

Room One’s 5th Annual Soup Dinner Fundraiser

Join us for a Masquerade evening to support Room One, a vital community resource. The celebration will take place on October 29th 2011 at the Winthrop Barn, doors open at 5:00pm.

Costumes are optional, a limited supply of masks will be available at the door.

Winthrop Marathon Proceeds go to Room One
